Soft Molasses Cookies

• 3/4 c. margarine
• 1/2 c. brown sugar
• 1 c. sour milk *
• 2 tsp. soda
• 3/4 c. molasses
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/2 tsp. ginger
• 1/2 tsp. cloves (optional)
• 3 c. flour

1. Preheat oven; get out utensils and ingredients.
2. Remove blocks and toy autos from the table.
3. Grease pan; crack nuts.
4. Measure two cups flour; remove baby's hands from flour.
5. Wash flour off baby; re-measure.
6. Put flour, baking powder and salt in sifter. Get dust pan and brush up pieces of bowl baby knocked on the floor.
7. Get another bowl.
8. Answer doorbell.
9. Return to kitchen. Remove baby's hands from bowl; wash baby and answer phone. Return; remove 1/4 inch salt from greased pan.
10. Look for baby. Grease another pan.
11. Answer telephone.
12. Return to kitchen and find baby; remove his hands from the bowl.
13. Take up greased pan and find layer of nutshells in it.
14. Head for baby who flees, knocking bowl off table.
15. Wash kitchen floor, table, walls, dishes.
16. Call baker.
17. Lie down.
