Mulled Cranberry Brew

  1. Combine cranberry juice, water, sugar, cinnamon stick.
  2. cloves and lemon peel in lg saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  5. Simmer gently 15 min.
  6. Strain.
  7. Combine syrup with wine and lemon juice; heat, but DO NOT BOIL.
  8. Serve in preheated mugs with a sprinkling of nutmeg.
  9. The syrup can be made ahead, kept in the refrigerator and combined with the wine and lemon juice before serving.
  10. Serves 12
