Amish Vanilla Pie Recipe
- 1/4 c. Granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. Brown sugar
- 1/2 c. Molasses or possibly light corn syrup
- 1 c. Water
- 1 x Egg, well beaten
- 1 Tbsp. Flour
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 x 9" unbaked pie shell
- 1 c. Flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 c. Brown sugar
- 1/4 c. Lard, butter, margerine or possibly vegetable shortening
- Combine all the above ingredients, except the vanilla, in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and continue boiling till thickened.
- Allow to cold and stir in vanilla.
- Pour into unbaked shell.
- CRUMBS Heat shortening.
- Stir in dry ingredients.
- Crumble mix over pie shell.
- Bake at 375 degrees F. for 50 to 60 min.
