Crab and Cucumber in Chikuwa Rolls (Toshi's Mom's Recipe)

  1. Cut the cucumber to the same length as the chikuwa.
  2. Then cut each chikuwa length in half.
  3. Slice the cucumber in half lengthwise, then cut each half into thirds (to make a total of 6 pieces).
  4. Tear the imitation crab meat in half and insert it into the chikuwa.
  5. It's fine if it sticks out.
  6. Insert the cucumbers into the chikuwa while pushing the crab meat down inside.
  7. Trim the ends of the logs.
  8. Slice the logs at an angle.
  9. Cut the leftover cucumbers into matchsticks serve them with the chikuwa.
  10. It's done!
  11. For those who have trouble filling the logs, you can try hollowing out the cucumber, filling it with the crab meat, then inserting it into the chikuwa, as recommended by another Cookpad user.
