Mission Fritada with Wine Syrup
- 8 medium french bread loaf, slightly stale
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup light cream (half&half) or whole milk
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar replacement
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1 x butter for frying
- 1 x vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup granulated sugar replacement
- 1 cup wine sweet, fruity white or red
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon orange zest lemon with white wine, orange with red wine
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- Combine all syrup ingredients in a saucepan.
- Simmer over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar evenly.
- Keep the syrup warm.
