Old Fashioned Moist Chocolate Cake
- 12 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour (sifted)
- 12 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (heaping)
- Combine first eight ingredients into a mixer and beat well.
- Add baking soda; with mixer on low, slowly add boiling water.
- Line two 8-inch round pans with wax paper.
- Grease and flour the sides.
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes then remove from pans.
