Homemade Beef and Black Bean Tacos
- 1/4 cups Chili Powder
- 3 Tablespoons Ground Cumin
- 2 Tablespoons Onion Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Paprika
- 1 Tablespoon Ground Oregano
- 1 Tablespoon Crushed Red Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1 Medium Onion, Chopped
- 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Black Beans, Rinsed, Or 1 1/2 Cups Cooked Black Beans
- 1/4 cups Taco Seasoning Mix
- 3/4 cups Water
- Whole Wheat Or Whole Corn Tortillas, To Serve
- To make the seasoning, whisk together all ingredients in a small bowl.
- Reserve 1/4 cup of seasoning (if making tacos immediately) and store the rest in an airtight container.
- To make tacos, brown ground beef in skillet.
- Drain meat and saute onion in the fat remaining in the skillet until beginning to soften.
- Return beef to skillet and add beans, 1/4 cup seasoning mixture, and water.
- Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer about 10 minutes until most of the liquid is gone.
- Serve with whole wheat or whole corn tortillas.
