Mochaccino Brownies
- 1 cup flour
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee or 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
- 1 tablespoon very hot water
- 12 cup butter
- 1 (8 ounce) package unsweetened chocolate squares, chopped
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 teaspoons instant coffee or 4 teaspoons espresso powder
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted and kept hot
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 13x9 pan.
- To prepare brownies: In a small bowl mix flour and salt with a wire whisk.
- In a cup, dissolve coffee in water and set aside.
- In a 3 quart saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
- Add eggs, vanilla and coffee mixture and stir until blended.
- Spread evenly in prepared pan.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool on wire rack.
- Glaze: In a medium bowl, stir coffee and hot melted butter with a wire whisk until coffee dissolves.
- Stir in confectioner's sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread over cooled brownies.
- Cut into bars and serve.
