Apple Oatmeal Crisp With Irish Whiskey Cream Recipe
- 1 stk cool unsalted butter cut into pcs
- 2 lb Rome Beauty or possibly Winesap apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1 c. light brown sugar - (packed)
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. Irish whiskey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 1 pch salt
- 1/4 c. Irish oatmeal
- 1/4 c. minced walnut pcs toasted
- 1 c. heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Irish whiskey
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Lightly butter an 11- by 7-inch baking pan and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat 3 Tbsp.
- of butter over medium-high heat.
- Add in the apples, lemon juice, 1/2 c. of the brown sugar and 1 Tbsp.
- of the flour.
- Stir well, and cook for 5 min.
- Add in the whiskey, cinnamon, cardamom and salt, stir well, and cook for 1 minute.
- Remove from the heat.
- In a large bowl combine the remaining flour, oatmeal and remaining 1/2 c. sugar.
- Add in the remaining 5 Tbsp.
- of butter, and with your fingers or possibly a pastry blender, work the mix till it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add in the walnuts and mix well.
- Place the apple mix in the greased pan and sprinkle the crumb mix proportionately over the top.
- Bake till golden and bubbly, about 35 to 40 min.
- Serve warm with the Irish Whiskey Cream.
- For Irish Whiskey Cream: Whip the cream till it begins to create soft peaks.
- Add in the sugar and whiskey and beat till stiff peaks form.
- Cover and refrigeratetill needed.
