Strawberry Smash

  1. Muddle the quartered strawberries with the Ginger Syrup in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add the bourbon and lime juice, fill the shaker with ice and shake well.
  3. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
  4. Top with a splash of soda, garnish with a mint sprig and whole strawberry and serve.
  5. Combine the ginger juice and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
  6. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves.
  7. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
  8. Keep covered in the refrigerator up 2 weeks.
  9. Yield: About 3/4 cup
