Onion buns

  1. saute onion on low to med heat.
  2. with 2 tablespoons butter until caramelized, 15-20 min and set aside
  3. stir together luke warm water, sugar, salt and yeast let it "bloom" (let yeast work, it will become a bit foamy, and be very fragrant)
  4. wait about 5 mins
  5. add egg, flour, and milk and 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  6. mix together, stir for 3 mins
  7. add in onions
  8. stir in a additional 1 1/2 - 2 cups of flour to make dough stiff
  9. place dough on well floured surface
  10. lightly knead, until no longer sticky, may need a bit more flour
  11. divide into 8 parts
  12. shape into flat buns; place on greased cookie sheet
  13. cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place until very light or doubled in size 45-60 mins
  14. bake at 375 for 12-15 mins or until golden brown
