Caramelized Baumkuchen in a Frying Pan
- 1 Store-bought baumkuchen
- 1 Maple syrup (or pancake syrup)
- 2 tbsp Sugar (light brown sugar)
- 2 tbsp Sugar (light brown sugar)
- 3 tbsp Soft light brown sugar
- 1 tsp Water
- Completely cover the top of the baumkuchen with syrup.
- This is so the sugar stays on during Step 2.
- Coat the entire surface with the sugar.
- Flip it over onto a lightly warmed frying pan.
- Watch it until the sugar begins to sizzle, then return it to the plate.
- The first layer is done!
- Now, let's do it again.
- Coat with the sugar...
- fry it up..
- and the second layer is done!
- The color has really set in!
- It's delicious just like this, but let's do a little more to make it like the real thing.
- Make the caramel with the ingredients!
- I used brown sugar.
- Simmer until you think it might be burning a bit..
- Quickly spread it over the baumkuchen, pressing down with a spoon if needed.
- Once caramelized, it's crunchy!
- Enjoy!
