Caramelized Baumkuchen in a Frying Pan

  1. Completely cover the top of the baumkuchen with syrup.
  2. This is so the sugar stays on during Step 2.
  3. Coat the entire surface with the sugar.
  4. Flip it over onto a lightly warmed frying pan.
  5. Watch it until the sugar begins to sizzle, then return it to the plate.
  6. The first layer is done!
  7. Now, let's do it again.
  8. Coat with the sugar...
  9. fry it up..
  10. and the second layer is done!
  11. The color has really set in!
  12. It's delicious just like this, but let's do a little more to make it like the real thing.
  13. Make the caramel with the ingredients!
  14. I used brown sugar.
  15. Simmer until you think it might be burning a bit..
  16. Quickly spread it over the baumkuchen, pressing down with a spoon if needed.
