Easy American Duck Skillet Recipe
- 1 (4-5 lb.) duckling
- 1 c. maple syrup
- 2 apples
- 4 strips bacon
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Wash and clean duckling.
- Place iron skillet on fire and heat till very warm.
- Place 1 cut up apple inside duckling and tie legs together.
- Rub duckling with salt and pepper and place in skillet.
- Turn duckling till it is blackened proportionately.
- Remove from flame, and stand duckling with legs up in skillet.
- Place skillet with duckling in 400 degree oven for 1 hour and 20 min.
- When duckling is cooked, remove from pan and cut in half.
- Remove apples and rib bones.
- Place skin side up on cookie sheet with 2 strips of bacon on each half of duckling.
- Return to oven.
- When bacon is cooked, place duckling on hot serving platter.
- Top with fresh sliced apple and heated maple syrup.
- Serve with rice.
