Dried Apple Cakes

  1. Cook dried apples in 4 cups water until tender.
  2. Drain and save juice.
  3. Measure 2 cups juice, adding water if needed.
  4. Mix 1/4 cup sugar with Dry Baking Mix, stir in Sourdough Starter to moisten flour.
  5. Turn out onto a floured surface, knead lightly;pat or roll to a 12x18 inch rectangle.
  6. Sprinkle with apples.
  7. Roll, starting at short end;cut into 12 slices.
  8. Put remaining sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter and the 2 cups apple liquid into a large deep skillet.
  9. Bring to a boil.
  10. Gently lower apple slices into hot syrup.
  11. Bake in a 375F (190C) oven for 35 to 40 mins.
