EASY SUBSTITUTIONS
- 1 To make CASTOR SUGAR
- 1 cup regular white granulated sugar...pulse in blender till sugar is very fine, but not powdered
- 2 To make POWDERED SUGAR
- 1 cup white granulated sugar...blend sugar and 1 1/2 TBLSP cornstarch on high speed till powered
- 3 To make BROWN SUGAR
- 1 cup white granulated sugar, 1 1/2 TBLSP molasses...mix and blend well with a fork (for dark brown sugar increase molasses to 2 1/2 TBLSP)
- 4 HEAVY CREAM substitute...*not for receipes calling for whipped cream, as this cream substitute will not whip
- 3/4 cup whole milk, 1/3 cup melted butter...pour butter into milk and stir...use in place of 1cup heavy cream *if using low fat milk, add 1TBLSP flour to mixture
- 5 EVAPORATED MILK substute
- 2/3 cup non-fat dry milk powder stired into 3/4 cup water...use in recipe that calls for evaporated milk
- 6 SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK...makes equivalent of one 14oz can
- 1/2 cup boiling hot water, 1cup non-fat dry milk powder, 2/3 cup sugar, 3 TBLSP melted butter, 1/4 TSP vanilla. Pour all ingriedents into blender, blend at high speed 1 minute or until smooth
