Sombrero
- 2 lb ground beef (I use chuck)
- 1 cup chopped sweet onion
- 1 small can green chilies
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp salt is what the recipe calls for, but I use less or use a salt free blend. I don't like salt.
- 1 (15 ounce cans) red kidney beans
- 1 *TOPPING*
- 2 cup grated cheese (I add extra)
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped green or black olives
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Brown meat and onion on stove top.
- Drain off any grease.
- Stir in ketchup, chili powder, and salt.
- Move to one side of pan.
- Pour in beans with liquid and smash them up.
- Mix together with meat.
- Put in 9 x 13 inch pan.
- Bake 30 minutes.
- Put cheese and olives on top.
- Bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
- I serve with tortilla chips, but a friend of mine prefers pita chips.
