Soda Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 450F (230C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients.
  3. Make a well in the middle and add buttermilk.
  4. Stir just enough to moisten.
  5. Turn dough onto floured board and gently work with hands for about a minute.
  6. Shape into a round loaf and place in an 8 inchesround cakepan.
  7. Cut an X across the top of the dough with a knife.
  8. Reduce heat to 350F (180C) F and bake 55 to 60 minutes.
  9. Bread will be done when it sounds hollow when you rap on the bottom.
