Grammie's Pastry

  1. Measure out flour and salt into a large bowl, mix together.
  2. Using a knife, shave the lard into chunks into the same bowl.
  3. Using a pastry blender, work the mixture, turning the bowl as you go until it comes through the pastry blender in sheets.
  4. Gradually add the ice water, small amounts at a time, while continuously passing a knife through the pastry while turning the bowl.
  5. "Knife" until the pastry is lumped together.
