Southern Style Green Beans

  1. Drain beans and cover with the water.
  2. Add bacon grease and sugar.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 3 hours.
  4. Cover with lid.
  5. Stir only when absolutely necessary as not to break the beans down.
  6. Add water as needed.
  7. The last 15-20 minutes, turn heat to medium high or high.
  8. Cook beans until most of the water is gone and the sugar has carmelized.
  9. Remove from heat and strain with spatula and serve warm!
  10. These are a great side with pork, beef or turkey!
  11. Must have homemade yeast rolls to complete the meal!
