Ice Cream With a Side of Bacon
- 6 slices uncooked bacon
- 50 ml brown sugar
- 30 ml smucker's sundae caramel syrup
- sea salt
- 250 ml maple ice cream
- additional bacon (to garnish)
- additional caramel syrup
- To candy the bacon, combine bacon and brown sugar in small bowl, making sure that sugar evenly coats both sides of bacon.
- Place on barbecue grill over medium heat and grill 34 minutes per side or until crispy and golden brown.
- Cool.
- Once complete, combine syrup, crumbled bacon and sea salt in small bowl.
- Set aside.
- Meanwhile, place ice cream in serving dish.
- Drizzle with caramel bacon mixture.
- Garnish with additional bacon and caramel syrup if needed.
- Tip: To cook bacon in the oven, preheat broiler to high.
- Line a 10 x 15 (23cm x 38cm) rimmed baking sheet or broiler pan with foil.
- Place rack in pan.
- Lay sugar coated bacon strips on rack.
- Broil, 45 minutes on high, turn and continue broiling approximately 3 minutes longer or until browned.
- Remove and cool.
