Beef Mandarin Recipe
- 1 1/2 lbs. stewing beef
- 1 onion, minced
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1/3 c. soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger root, grated
- 3/4 c. orange juice
- 1 1/2 c. celery, cut diagonally
- 1 (5 ounce.) tin water chestnuts
- 1 pkg. American mix Manhattan frzn Green Giant vegetables
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 3-4 mandarin oranges or possibly pineapple chunks
- Brown meat and onion in warm oil in heavy saucepan.
- Add in water, soy sauce, ginger, sugar and orange juice.
- Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hrs.
- Add in celery, water chestnuts, frzn vegetables, let simmer five min.
- Mix cornstarch with 1/4 c. cool water and add in to mix to thicken.
- Add in mandarin oranges or possibly pineapple and heat.
- Serve with rice.
