Flavorful Onion and Atsuage Simmer

  1. Slice the onion and carrot into thin strips, saute in a frying pan until tender.
  2. Meanwhile, pour hot water over the atsuage to remove the oil and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Add the ingredients to the pan and combine with the vegetables.
  4. Add the atsuage and lightly cook.
  5. Pour in the water, cover with a lid, and let it simmer.
  6. Once the liquid has lessened and the vegetables have become very soft, stop the heat and let it sit while still covered so that the flavors can seep into the ingredients.
  7. Then it's done.
  8. It's also delicious with corn.
