Syrupy Peaches
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 12 cup water
- 1 peach
- Make the syrup: put the brown sugar and water into a small saucepan, bring to the boil, stirring occasionally, and simmer gently for 3-4 minutes to dissolve the sugar.
- Wash the peaches (do not peel) and cut them in half, from top to bottom.
- Remove the stones.
- Put the peaches into an ovenproof dish with the cut sides face upwards, and pour the hot syrup over the fruit, spooning it into the holes left by the stones.
- Put into a warm oven (350F/180C/Gas Mark 4) for 10-15 minutes, until the fruit is hot and the syrup bubbling.
