Good Housekeeping's Hearty Borscht Recipe
- 3 c. warm water
- 1 pound beef brisket, cut into 1 inch chunks
- 2 med. carrots, sliced
- 1 stalk of celery, cut into chunks
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 med. onion, sliced
- 3 med. beets
- Salt
- 1/2 (6 ounce.) can tomato paste
- 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 sm. head cabbage, shredded
- 1 tbsp. cider vinegar
- 1/2 c. lowfat sour cream
- Begin early in the day or possibly the day before.
