Simple Prep! Sukiyaki-style Beef and Tofu
- 2 blocks Firm tofu
- 150 grams Ground pork (or mixture with beef)
- 2 stalks Japanese leek
- 1 Snow peas (for garnishing)
- 100 ml Soy sauce
- 100 ml Mirin
- 200 ml Sake
- 100 ml Water
- 20 to 30 grams Sugar
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Umami seasoning (optional)
- 1 Katakuriko, dissolved in water
- First, mix together the seasonings to prepare the sukiyaki sauce.
- Saute the beef until brown, stir in the chopped leek, add the prepared sukiyaki sauce, and when it boils, add the tofu.
- Once the tofu cooks, add the katakuriko slurry, then it's ready to serve!
- The thicker the sauce, the better it is to coat the ground beef.
- I added more tofu to leftovers.
- Letting the dish sit for a while allows the tofu to absorb the sauce, and this makes it even tastier.
