Apple Brown Betty (Nancy Eppel's) Recipe
- 1 1/3 c. FRESH BREAD CRUMBS
- 3/4 c. PACKED BROWN SUGAR
- 1 tsp GRATED ORANGE PEEL (FRESH)
- 1/2 tsp Grnd CINNAMON
- 6 x GRANNY SMITH APPLES (8 C.)
- 4 Tbsp. BUTTER (CUT IN SMALL Pcs)
- 1/4 c. WATER
- PEEL, CORE AND QUARTER THE APPLES.
- HEAT OVEN TO 375 DEG F. HAVE A 1 1/2 Qt BAKING DISH READY.
- MIX ALL THE CRUMB Mix INGREDIENTS TOGETHER IN A BOWL Till WELL BLENDED.
- ARRANGE HALF THE APPLE Pcs OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE BAKING DISH.
- SPRINKLE WITH HALF THE CRUMB Mix.
- DOT WITH HALF THE BUTTER.
- REPEAT THE LAYERS.
- DRIZZLE THE WATER OVER THE APPLES.
- COVER AND BAKE FOR 45 TO 50 Min Or possibly Till APPLES IN CENTER ARE TENDER.
- SERVE Hot Or possibly AT ROOM TEMPERATURE.
- MAKES 6 SERVINGS.
