Easter Papoose Bread Recipe
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon plus 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 c. scalded lowfat milk
- Healthy pinch of salt
- 1/3 c. butter
- 2 Large eggs, beaten
- 3 1/2 c. unsifted flour
- 1 egg, beaten well with
- 1 teaspoon water
- 6 Large eggs in their shells
- Confetti sprinkles
- Combine water, 1 tsp.
- sugar, and yeast in a small bowl and let stand 5 min.
- In a large bowl, combine lowfat milk, salt, butter, Large eggs, and remaining 1/2 c. sugar.
- Add in about half the flour and beat till smooth.
- Stir in yeast mix.
- Slowly add in the remaining flour to create a stiff dough (add in more flour if needed), turn out on a floured board and knead till smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise in a hot place till doubled.
