$20,000 Prize-winning Chili

  1. In large saucepan or Dutch oven, brown half the meat; pour off fat.
  2. Remove meat.
  3. Brown remaining meat; pour off all fat except 2 Tbsps.
  4. Add onion, garlic; cook and stir until tender.
  5. Add meat and remaining ingredients except flour, cornmeal and warm water.
  6. Mix well.
  7. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer covered 2 hours.
  8. Stir together flour and cornmeal; add warm water.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Stir into chili mixture.
  11. Cook covered 20 minutes longer.
  12. Serve hot.
  13. Makes 2 quarts.
