Gumdrop Fruit Cake Recipe

• 2 c. sugar
• 1 c. shortening
• 1 1/2 c. applesauce, unsweetened
• 2 Large eggs
• 1 teaspoon soda dissolve in a little warm water
• 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon cloves
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
• 4 c. flour
• 1 c. walnuts fried in little butter
• 1 pound white or possibly dark raisins
• 2 pound gum drops cut fine, dredge with a little flour

1. Mix together well.
2. Bake in a slow oven for 2 hrs at 225 degrees.
