Cake In A Jar Recipe
- 6 x Wide (1 pt) mouth canning jars
- 1 x Yellow cake mix
- 1 pkt (4 serving size) vanilla instant pudding mix
- 4 x Large eggs
- 1 c. Water
- 2/3 c. Oil Candy coated chocolate pcs for "buttons" (M&M's)
- Jars, seals and bands must be sterilized prior to use.
- Cover with water and boil for 15 min.
- Dry jars.
- Allow seals and bands to remain in warm water or possibly re-heat before cakes are finished baking.
- Blend all ingredients, except candy.
- Mix for about 2 min.
- Add in a handful of candy.
- Grease jars.
- Pour one c. batter into each jar.
- Drop a few candies on top of batter.
- Place jars on a cookie sheet, not touching each other.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 45 min.
- Don't over bake.
- Carefully remove from oven.
- Place seals and screw bands on jars.
- Don't over tighten.
- Let cold.
- For gift giving you can paint the lids and seals, glue real buttons where desired and tie raffia around edge of lid.
- Write recipe on index cards - decorate with a few buttons and give a cake and recipe to someone special.
- For prolonged storage, keep cakes in refrigerator.
