Cooked Eggnog with Rum

  1. Mix the milk, eggs and sugar in a medium saucepan and slowly simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes, whisking the whole time.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. Refrigerate until cold.
  4. To serve: You can heat it up or serve it cold.
  5. Pour it in a glass and give it a good shot of rum and a stir and garnish with the ground nutmeg.
