Mom's Bread
- 5 cups hot water, from tap (not boiling)
- 34 cup honey or 34 cup sugar
- 34 cup oil
- 3 tablespoons yeast
- 12 -13 cups flour (more or less, don't measure)
- 2 tablespoons salt (sometimes salt can kill the yeast so add it with the flour)
- 2 tablespoons gluten
- 2 tablespoons dough enhancer
- 13 cup powdered milk (optional)
- 1 egg (optional)
- Mix water, sugar, oil and yeast in Bosch.
- (With old fashioned yeast, let the yeast bubble before continuing, but no need to do with with instant yeast.)
- Add milk and egg.
- Turn mixer on low and add flour, salt, gluten and dough enhancer.
- Mom never measures the flour, she just add to the right consistency.
- Dough needs to be slightly sticky and the sides start to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
- After all ingredients have been added, beat on low with the Bosch for 10 minuets.
- Take out dough, roll into loves, put into pans and let rise.
- Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes.
- Makes 4-5 loaves.
