Sausage Coffee Cake
- 1 pound sausage, bulk
- 1/2 cup onions chopped
- 14 cups parmesan, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, grated grated
- 1/4 cup swiss cheese grated
- 1/4 teaspoon red hot pepper sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons parsley leaves chopped
- 2 cups biscuit baking mix (bisquick)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 each egg yolks
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon water
- Brown the onions and sausage.
- Drain well.
- Add the onions, parmesan, swiss, tabasco, salt and parsley.
- Make a batter of biscuit mix, milk and mayo.
- Spread half of batter in 9x9x2 inch greased pan.
- Pour in sausage mixture.
- Spread remaining batter on top.
- Mix egg yolk and water and spread on top.
- Bake at 400F (200C).
- for 25 to 30 minutes until cake leaves edge of pan.
- Cool for 5 minutes before cutting into 3 inch squares.
