Mushroom Gravy Patty Melts

  1. Saute mushrooms in a saucepan with oil over medium heat about 5 minutes.
  2. When mushrooms are brown and soft, pour in the beef broth and stir.
  3. Let the gravy simmer until it reduces to half, about 7 to 10 minutes.
  4. Add flour and whisk until combined, until desired thickness.
  5. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  6. Assemble the ground beef into 4 long, thin patties.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Cook in a skillet over medium high heat for 5 minutes on each side.
  9. Put the burgers to the side when they are done.
  10. Over medium heat, melt butter in a skillet.
  11. Assemble the sandwiches: bread, cheese, burger, gravy, bread.
  12. Use 1 1/2 slices of cheese on each sandwich.
  13. Spread the gravy on the top slice of the bread.
  14. Grill sandwiches until the bread is toasted.
