Herb Naan Bread
- 1 cup water heated to 110 degrees fahrenheit
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp instant rapid rise yeast
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 3 1/2 cup bread flour
- 1 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
- 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp finely minced garlic
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh dill
- 1/2 tsp fresh lemon zest
- 2 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
- In a large cup, add heated water, yeast and sugar.
- Mix and let sit for five minutes to proof.
- If yeast foams after five minutes, it is ready to use.
- In a mixing bowl with dough hook add flour, salt, olive oil, yogurt and proofed yeast.
- Start mixing on low.
- Add in garlic, dill and lemon zest.
- Knead on low for five minutes.
- A soft dough ball should have formed.
- If mixture is too dry, add warm water, 1 tablespoon at a time until soft ball is reached.
- If too wet, add 1 tablespoon of flour to reach same results.
- Lightly oil a bowl and add dough to bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour in a warm area.
- After 1 hour, punch down dough, cover again and let rest 15 minutes.
- Divide dough into 8 individual balls.
- Roll each ball out into an oval shape about 8"x6".
- Get a grill or large skillet hot over medium heat.
- Using the 2 tablespoons of oil for all the dough pieces, brush one side of naan with oil, grill or cook for several minutes on one side until lightly browned.
- Brush other side and repeat.
- Finish all naan in this fashion.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
