Gluten Roast With a Beef Flavor

  1. Shape gluten into a ball.
  2. Place it in a covered baking dish or slow cooker.
  3. Measure water into a mixing bowl.
  4. Stir in all remaining ingredients.
  5. Pour water over gluten.
  6. Bake, covered, in a 250 oven for 10 hours or over night.
  7. Cook in a slow cooker set on low for 16 hours.
  8. The long, slow cooking time permits the seasonings to penetrate the roast and gives a texture that enables the roast to be sliced very thin.
  9. Seitan roast makes excellent sandwich meat as well as pot roast.
