Saak Bhaja
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/4 tsp. five spice powder
- 2 cups onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 cups chard, slivered
- Heat oil in pan over medium low heat.
- Add five spice powder; fry for a few seconds.
- Add onion; fry until it is translucent, 2 or 3 minutes.
- Stir constantly.
- Add the turmeric and salt; stir briefly.
- Add the chard.
- Reduce heat to very low, cover and cook just until the chard is green and limp.
- Do not cook so much that it loses its colour.
- Cook for no more than 5 or 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve at once.
- This dish goes well with rice and mung beans.
