Steak Sandwich
- 1 pound Sirloin Steak
- 1 whole Yellow Onion
- 1/2 cups Butter
- 3 cloves Garlic, Crushed
- 1 Tablespoon Minced Fresh Dill
- 1 whole Baguette
- 2 Tablespoons Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 2 slices Havarti Cheese
- Canola Or Olive Oil, Enough To Slather On The Steak And A Drizzle For Your Skillet
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- Preheat a skillet to a high heat.
- During this time, rub both sides of the meat with salt, pepper and oil.
- Place meat in the hot skillet and cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side.
- During the process of cooking dont move or flip meat.
- Just let it sizzle on each side.
- Trust me it will not burn.
- To see if its cooked to your preference you can cut into the center of it towards the end of the cook time and peek inside.
- When done to your liking remove it from the skillet to a cutting board and allow it to rest for a moment.
- Then slice cooked steak into thin long strips.
- Slice onion in half then thinly slice the halves so that you have half-rings.
- Heat a separate skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.
- When hot add onions and cook until golden brown.
- To prepare the butter spread, combine butter with crushed garlic and dill in a small bowl.
- Mix until combined.
- Slice your baguette in half sandwich style.
- Spread the herb butter over both of the cut sides of the bread.
- Form the sandwich in this order: a layer of Parmesan cheese, steak, Havarti cheese and caramelized onions.
- Top with the other slice of bread.
- It is best to serve the sandwich while hot and cheese is all melted.
