Ground Meat and Cabbage
- 200 grams Ground meat (beef/pork combination)
- 200 grams Cabbage
- 1/2 piece Ginger
- 1 dash Garlic
- 1 stalk Japanese leek
- 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 100 ml Water
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Cooking sake
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 Salt and pepper
- Julienne the cabbage rather thickly.
- Grate the garlic and ginger.
- Roughly chop the leek.
- Heat some oil in a frying pan and pan fry the leek, garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- Add the ground meat and stir-fry until browned.
- Add the cabbage and continue stir-frying.
- Combine the ingredients in advance.
- Pour it into the pan, and cook until there's no more moisture left in the pan.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper and it's done.
- If you cook it until the cabbage is softened, it will be sweet and mild.
- If you use a lot of garlic it will have a very strong odor at the start, but as you cook longer it will become milder.
- In this variation I used coarsely chopped beef and added an egg on top.
- It tasted like sukiyaki!
