Floral Cake

  1. Bake cake according to recipe or label directions in two 8- or 9-inch pans; let cool completely.
  2. Stir frosting in medium bowl to soften.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring; stir well to incorporate.
  4. Add additional drops if needed to reach desired color.
  5. Place a cake layer on a serving platter.
  6. Spread about 1/2 cup frosting on cake.
  7. Top with second cake layer.
  8. Cover top and sides of cake with remaining frosting.
  9. To make flowers, place a Skittle on the cake.
  10. Surround the Skittle with 6 more, in a color that is different from the center one.
  11. Cover the cake as desired with Skittle flowers.
