Spicy Lentils and Split Peas
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 12 onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 1 tablespoon coriander
- 12 teaspoon allspice
- 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can tomatoes
- 2 cups lentils, rinsed
- 12 cup split peas, rinsed
- 8 cups water
- add oil and onions and garlic to a large pan and saute until starting to get translucent.
- 5-8 minutes.
- Add Turmeric, Coriander and allspice.
- Continue for 5 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Bring to a boil then let simmer for 40 minutes.
