Delicious Poppy Seed Bread
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup orange juice
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- For bread: In a large bowl, combine oil, sugar, eggs extracts and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, poppy seed and baking powder and mix well.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to sugar mixture.
- Pour into 3 greased and floured 7 X 3 inch loaf pans or 2 9 X 5 inch loaf pans (half to two thirds full).
- Bake in preheated oven for 35-45 minutes for medium loaves or 45 -55 minutes for large loaves.
- Remove from oven and cool in pans on a rack for 10 minutes, then invert and cool completely.
- For topping: Combine ingredients in microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high 1 to 2 minutes or til butter is melted and sugar is dissolved.
- Stir well and brush topping over cooled loaves with a pastry brush.
