7UP Roasted Turkey

  1. Preheat oven to 325
  2. Clean turkey inside and out and pat dry
  3. Optionally stuff turkey if desired
  4. Place turkey in pan breast side up and pour 7up onto turkey until about 1 to 2 inches of 7up is on the bottom of the pan
  5. Pour melted butter onto turkey making sure to get the wing tips and legs as they dry out fast
  6. sprinkle on seasonings
  7. cover turkey and bake for 2 hours
  8. baste turkey thoroughly with juices from the pan cover and return to oven
  9. repeat above step every 15-20 minutes for 1 and 1/2 hours - 2 hours
  10. the last hour of cooking should be done without the cover to allow the skin to crisp
  11. after a total of 3-4 hours check the meat by slicing one of the thighs down to the bone and making sure there is no pink
