Rye Rickey

  1. Stir the lime juice, rye or bourbon and orange Curacao or Cointreau in an 8-ounce glass with 2 ice cubes.
  2. If you like, drop in the rind of half a lime.
  3. Top off with soda, stir gently and serve with a straw trimmed to extend over lip of glass by 2 inches or so, if necessary.
