Chewy Brownie Mix (Brownies)

• 6 cups all-purpose flour
• 4 teaspoons baking powder
• 4 teaspoons salt
• 8 cups sugar
• 1 (8 ounce) can baking cocoa
• 2 cups vegetable shortening

1. In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients.
2. With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until evenly distributed.
3. Store in a large airtight container in the cupboard (two 3 pound coffee cans work well).
4. Keeps 10-12 weeks.
5. To make brownies:.
6. 2 1/2 cups mix, 2 eggs, beaten, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional).
7. In a mixing bowl, combine first four ingredients.
8. Beat with a spoon until smooth.
9. Spread into a greased 8-in.
10. square baking pan (double recipe for 9x13 pan).
11. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 min until the top tests done.
12. Don't overcook :).
