Basil And Mozzarella Burgers Recipe
- 3/4 lb grnd beef sirloin
- 3/4 c. cooked couscous (see Note)
- 3/4 c. finely minced onions
- 1 x egg white
- 3 x cloves garlic chopped
- 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
- 4 x very thin slices pepperoni chopped
- 4 x thin slices mozzarella cheese
- 8 slc lightly toasted Italian bread
- 1/2 c. crushed tomatoes warmed
- 8 x basil leaves
- 4 x pepperoncini
- Prepare grill for indirect cooking.
- Coat a grill rack with cooking spray; place on grill.
- Combine beef, couscous, onions, egg white, garlic, parsley and pepperoni in large bowl; mix gently but thoroughly.
- Shape into 4 patties, each 3 1/2 to 4 inches in diameter.
- Arrange on grill rack.
- Grill over indirect medium heat till done, 8 to 10 min per side, turning once and topping with mozzarella during last 3 min of cooking.
- Place patties on 4 toasted Italian bread slices; top with crushed tomatoes, basil, pepperoncini, and remaining bread slices.
- Note: For couscous: Bring 3/4 c. water to a boil in a 2-qt saucepan.
- Stir in 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp.
- couscous.
- Cover and remove from heat.
- Let stand for 5 min.
- Fluff with fork.
