Oriental Beef Braise

  1. Heat oil in wok.
  2. Stir-fry meat in small batches until well browned.
  3. Remove.
  4. Stir-fry ginger and 5 spice powder 1-2 minutes.
  5. Return meat to wok and add soy, water and sugar.
  6. Bring to boil.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour until meat is tender.
  8. Just before serving add nuts and shallots.
