Not Your Mothers Shepherds Pie
- 1 pound Ground Lamb
- 1 whole Large Onion, Chopped
- 1 can Tomato Paste, 6 Oz
- 6 ounces, fluid Water
- 1 Tablespoon Garam Masala
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Fresh Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar (optional)
- 4 cups Shredded Cabbage
- 6 cups Mashed Potatoes
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Cook lamb and onion in a large skillet over medium heat until lamb is no longer pink.
- Reduce heat to low, add tomato paste and water, and stir until thoroughly mixed.
- Add garam masala, salt, pepper, and (optional) brown sugar.
- Remove from heat.
- Place shredded cabbage in a 2-quart casserole and spoon lamb mixture on top.
- Cover and bake about 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
- Serve over mashed potatoes.
