Baked Beans
- 3 (No. 2 1/2) cans pork and beans
- 3 large onions, chopped
- 1 bunch green onions, chopped
- 3 bell peppers, chopped
- 2 hot peppers, chopped
- 6 ribs celery, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. mustard
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 can applesauce
- 1 can tomato paste
- 3/4 can tomato juice
- 1 lb. sharp cheese, cubed
- seasoned salt and pepper to taste
- ham cubes (optional)
- bacon strips
- If time permits, place ingredients in casserole
- or bean pot, topped with bacon strips and cook 4 hours at 300u0b0.
- If time is short, saute all fresh vegetables in seasoned fat.
- Add all remaining ingredients and cook at 300u0b0 for 2 hours.
- Do not cook too dry as juices will thicken some when removed from oven. Yields 12 to 15 servings.
