Kraut Burger Stuffed Rolls
- 1 see attached recipe for roll dough
- 1 lb lean ground beef, I like 93%lean
- 1/2 lb black forest ham, diced
- 2 cup sauerkraut, well drained
- 2 heaping tablespoons of spicy brown mustard or dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/3 cup minced onion, fresh
- 4 thick slices of swiss cheese, or white aged cheddar, 1/8" thick
- Prepare dough according to recipe directions including first rise.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add salt to beef.
- Brown beef and onions until beef is no longer pink.
- Set aside to cool.
- In a large bowl add beef, sauerkraut, fennel, mustard, ham and beef.
- Mix well.
- On lightly floured surface turn out dough.
- Divide into four equal sections.
- Using your hand form a 9" round circle.
- Fill middle of dough with 1/4 of filling mix.
- Pull up edges and seal.
- Place seam side down onto a parchment lined baking tray.
- Continue same steps with the other 3 pieces.
- Place a slice of swiss on top of each roll.
- Bake in a preheated 380F fahrenheit oven.
- Bake 20-25 minutes.
- Cheese will be golden in color and bubbly.
- Let cool several minutes before cutting open.
